We are volunteers focused on preserving a historic cemetery over 200 years old. The Cemetery located in the hamlet of Oak Hill, is the last independent cemetery in the town of Durham. Though a small, rural Cemetery, we are known for the care we take in preserving our grounds as well as beautiful surroundings.
Our primary source or revenue is the sale of graves and burial fees which is devoted to maintenance. A percentage of the revenue is put into a special fund to ensure that the grounds can continue to be cared for sometime in the future when there are no longer graves to sell. This makes funding special projects difficult. There are several ways to to join in our efforts to ensure the Oak Hill Cemetery continues as an important part of the community.
Please help us move forward with special projects. E.g., restore the iron sign to the entrance of the Cemetery which is now by our shed, install a columbarium, repair the fencing surrounding grounds. A minimum donation of $20 would be particularly helpful. We are a recognized charitable, non-profit organization with IRS no. 36-4781978. Thank you.
